Do you eat well and exercise regularly yet can’t seem to lose weight?
Plateaus occur in weight loss or when trying to improve one’s fitness level when your body gets used to the routine you have been following week after week, or month after month.
Maybe you have been eating the same way, or training at the same intensity, or doing the same thing for too long.
The way to break this cycle is very simple, and that is to change your routine.
Here are some suggestions:
- Completely change what you eat in the morning. Often due to it being such a hectic time of the day, we get trapped into a routine of eating the same thing day in , day out.
- For a 3-4 days in a row replace one meal with a protein shake that includes banana, honey, and/or oatmeal.
- Slow down your run, trot, walk swim pace but go out for longer.
- Speed up your run, trot, walk, swim pace but don’t go out for as long.
- Change your exercise style altogether. Try boxing, or circuit training, or pilates, or weight training, or a dance class.
- Add in an extra session of exercise to your weekly program.
The golden rule still applies that you need to burn more than you consume if you want to lose weight, but you just have to make sure that you don’t let your body get used to the ‘same ole, same ole’ routine. |
